despite their advanced age, most of the nonagenarians showed mild functional and cognitive impairment with low comorbidity. No significant differences were observed by gender. Future studies should help to detect nonagenarians at high risk of rapid impairment to allow early initiation of interventions to delay the development of further incapacity.
