Cloning and characterization of a cDNA encoding β-amyrin synthase from petroleum plant Euphorbia tirucalli L.

Identification of the protein encoded by a Euphorbia tirucalli cDNA as a β-amrin synthase was established by heterologous expression in the methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris.
