This paper analyzes the issue of time for the infant. Present seems to be what matters for the infant, who is unable to do without. The position of withdrawal from the present time is understood as an important way for the psychological development, and as defence mechanism if sustained, thus impending on development. The assessment of social withdrawal trough the alarm distress baby (adbb) scale is presented.
