Mineralogy and geochemistry of a marine sequence, Gulf of Salerno, Italy

Enhanced Ba content was found at the 320 and 160 cm levels. Increased Pb content was observed at the surface. BCR sequential extraction showed that Cu and Pb in the sediments were prevalently associated with oxidizable components, primarily sulphides. Zn, Ni and Mn were strongly bound to residual mineral phases, likely of volcanic origin. Fe was found mainly associated with easily reducible oxide phases, and as pyrite.
