La formation de « référents douleur », une expérience novatrice

Pain management is a priority in healthcare. The four-year anti-pain plan developed in France for 2002-2005 included training of pain referral consultants within each care unit, but the training program was not detailed. At the Bicêtre University Hospital, we developed a specific four-day training program. This innovating program includes a workshop where the participants elaborate concrete projects which are followed over time and managed by the pain team. The impact of this training has enabled the development of dynamic action in the different units. The program has been re-initiated since 2002 with success. We present the training program and raise a few important questions concerning the evaluation of results.
