Charge transport and light emission in bilayer organic field-effect transistors

► Data taken from a reported bilayer OFET had been analyzed. ► Transport and light emission mechanisms were used explain the device operation. ► Light emission was found to depend on the charge distribution under bias. ► We highlighted the opportunities to improve the device performance.
