Immunocompetent truncated E2 glycoprotein of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) expressed in Nicotiana tabacum plants: A candidate antigen for new generation of veterinary vaccines

► We engineered a construct for expressing in plants a truncated version of the glycoprotein E2 (tE2). ► We have transiently expressed the recombinant tE2 in tobacco leaves by agroinfiltration. ► When subcutaneously administrated the recombinant tE2 we have expressed it has induced an immune response in guinea pigs. ► We are analyzing, the development of a plant-made vaccine against BVDV.
