Hydrogen peroxide on Mars: Observations, interpretation and future plans

► H2O2 is a key trace species of Mars, probably responsible for oxidizing its surface. ► We have mapped H2O2 over the seasons using the TEXES imaging spectrometer at IRTF. ► The observations favor GCM simulations including heterogeneous chemistry. ► Transient H2O2 souces might locally be formed in dust devils/storms. ► Present results are reviewed and the detectability of local sources is discussed.
