MESSENGER observations of the plasma environment near Mercury

► Analyzed FIPS plasma data from MESSENGER 1st and 2nd Mercury flybys. ► Identified major features of the Mercury magnetosphere in these data. ► Developed forward modeling technique to recover density and temperature. ► Discussed proton moments from central plasma sheet and two boundary layers. ► Suggested role for heavy ions in dayside boundary layer.
