Photosynthetic and physiological analysis of the rice high-chlorophyll mutant (Gc)

► A high chlorophyll b rice mutant (Gc) was compared with its wild-type. ► Gc had a greater PSII capacity. ► Some plastid and nuclear genes in Gc were up-regulated. ► Overexpressed LHCII proteins might make Gc grana larger and more highly stacked. ► The adaptation might enable Gc to have a higher photosynthetic capacity.
