Troubles du sommeil et maladie rénale, lien et conséquences

Sleep disorders mainly associate insomnia, daytime sleepiness, sleep apnea syndrome and restless leg syndrome. Those disorders are more frequent in chronic kidney disease patients (until 80% for patients on dialysis) than in the general population. Moreover, symptoms are reduced in chronic kidney disease patients with poor diagnostic efficiency of questionnaires. Here we review the literature data to describe the specific epidemiology of sleep disorders in chronic kidney disease population and their impact. Then we focus on pathophysiological link between sleep disorders and kidney disease. Finally, we describe therapeutics specificities for sleep specialist and nephrologist.
