Conversion d'un type d'apnées à un autre (obstructif/central) : une question de fluide ?

In patients with cardiovascular diseases, the prevalence of sleep apnea syndrome is particularly high. Patients with heart failure develop sleep-disordered breathing with switch from obstructive to central events in relation to their hemodynamic status and clinical context. In these patients characterized by fluid-retention, overnight rostral fluid shift appears as a pathophysiological mechanism that could explain this switch. The clinical case presented here illustrates this characteristic. It also highlights the value of close monitoring in this type of patients (notably using device data when the patient is ventilated) to prevent the decompensations.
