Corrélats cérébraux du rêve

Sleep and dream research has recently been invigorated by convergent data generated by different research domains, including brain-imaging studies of normal sleep; clinical investigations of dream disorders in brain-damaged patients, and statistical analysis of dream reports from healthy subjects. Based on these results, we recently proposed a neuropsychological interpretation for some bizarre but frequent features in « normal » dreams (in subjects without any neurological or psychiatric disorder). Here, we show that by adopting a neuropsychological approach to dream phenomenology we can gain important insights into the processing of information within specialized brain regions during sleep. Such an integrative approach opens new perspectives on the neural underpinnings of conscious experience across a variety of brain states.
