Fonctions adaptatives chez les sujets âgés : influence des processus de comparaisons sociales, temporelles et des réminiscences

The adaptation of elders in front of changes is the aim of this study to offer them a good quality of life. Diverse adaptive processes can be set up; everything depends on situational and dispositional factors. Few authors are interested processes of comparisons in connection with the ageing. The social comparisons have for objectives to feel reassured in situation of uncertainty and to maintain a positive self-esteem. These processes appear naturally in many old persons. However, for this population, the comparisons neither are not always relevant, nor favourable. It is possible to make intrapersonal comparisons as the temporal comparisons or to use the reminiscences.
