Homosexuality in Morocco: Between cultural influences and life experience

SummaryHeterosexism is understood as a cultural system of thought, construction and perception of sexuality, tackled in a hierarchical manner; heterosexuality is considered to be the norm and the only legitimate form of sexuality. The arrival of the Arabs and Islam in the xiith century was not able to totally erase all traces of other religions and traditions that prevailed in Morocco for centuries before. Between literary heritage and poetic history, through the Arab Muslims, we then touch upon the etymological homosexuality in our dialects before looking at the Islamic view of homosexuality through the eyes of its most ardent supporters.
