SummaryObjectiveTo determine the incidence of sexual dysfunction following surgical repair of Peyronie's disease.Material and methodsLiterature review was done on surgical treatment of Peyronie's disease and its complications.ResultsSurgical treatment of peyronie's disease could result in different forms of sexual dysfunction including penile shortening, residual curve, erectile dysfunction, and altered sensation. The incidence of these complications depends on the type of surgical approach, with grafting procedures having the highest incidence. Treatment of sexual dysfunction following surgical treatment of peyronie's disease is similar to non-peyronie's patients in most cases. Patient satisfaction is affected by many factors with realistic expectations being the most important.ConclusionsSexual dysfunction following surgical treatment of peyronie's disease is not a rare event, especially after grafting procedures. Physicians should be aware of the incidence of these complications and their treatments, this is important for preoperative counselling of patients. Improper counselling can lead to unrealistic expectation, which in turn affect patient satisfaction. We recommend standardisation of the definitions of these complications.
