Development of a spatially resolved linked hydrodynamic and exposure model (LOTOX2) for PCBs in Lake Ontario

► LOTOX2 is a Lake Ontario mass balance and bioaccumulation model for total PCBs. ► LOTOX2 has been calibrated to PCB data in water, sediments, and lake trout. ► The lake is not yet at steady-state with current loads because of sediment feedback. ► With 2005 load held constant, it will take > 50 yrs for tPCBs in lake trout to reach steady-state. ► With zero loads from 2005, tPCBs in lake trout will reach 0.05 ppm in ~ 40 yrs.
