The last snapshot of natural pelagic fish assemblage in Lake Turkana, Kenya: A hydroacoustic study

► Diel changes of fish horizontal and vertical spatial distribution are described. ► We assessed overall fish biomass (30 kg/ha) and density (1381 ind./ha) in the lake. ► The fish biomass remained stable, compared with the previous investigations. ► The fish density decreased, which suggests fish assemblage change. ► Synodontis spp., Lates spp. and Schilbe uranoscopus dominated in the gillnet catch.
