Identification of two new cytochrome P450 genes and RNA interference to evaluate their roles in detoxification of commonly used insecticides in Locusta migratoria

► We identified two new cytochrome P450 genes in the oriental migratory locust. ► CYP408B1 was expressed in all the developmental stages examined. ► CYP408B1 and CYP409A1 showed different tissue-specific expression patterns. ► Different insecticides either suppressed or induced the expression of these genes. ► RNAi revealed the detoxification function of these genes for deltamethrin.
