Spatio-temporal variation of CO2 emission from Chilika Lake, a tropical coastal lagoon, on the east coast of India

▶ During entire study period, there was net flux of CO2 from lagoon to atmosphere. ▶ There was a significant spatial and temporal variability of pCO2 and CO2 flux. ▶ High CO2 emission in high flow period was attributed by high bacterial respiration. ▶ Northern sector of the lagoon during high flow contributed highest CO2 flux. ▶ High flow CO2 emission was comparable with entire tropical and subtropical estuaries.
