Threshold friction velocity of soils within the Columbia Plateau

► Threshold friction velocities were measured on five soils in the Columbia Plateau. ► Threshold friction velocity was lower for the sandy loam than for the silt loams. ► Threshold friction velocities of the five soils were lower than those in the field. ► Wind erosion models must account for soils with low threshold friction velocities.
