Tectono-Sequence Stratigraphic Analysis in Continental Faulted Basins
چکیده انگلیسی

The sequence stratigraphic configuration in continental basins responds to base level change controlled by integrated dynamic process, such as tectonics, paleoclimate, lake-level, sediment supply and so on. In continental basins, tectonic movements are of extreme importance to both the formation of sequence boundaries and the filling characters of sequences. Therefore, sequence stratigraphic study in continental basins should focus on interpreting sequence stratigraphic configuration and predicting interior filling characters through analyzing tectonic control on the formation and evolution of sequences. The control of tectonics on sequence stratigraphic configuration in faulted basins can be summarized mainly as follows: (1) Basement subsidence directly controls the accommodation space available for sediments accumulation and therefore, the sequence stratigraphic configuration; (2) Tectonic transfer zones control the position of source areas and the development of sedimentary systems; (3) Paleogeomorphological features modified by tectonics/faulting influence the distribution of sedimentary system and sand-bodies. Therefore, sequence stratigraphic study in continental basins should pay much attention to tectono-sequence analysis.
