The data reported in this article show that rocks containing diamonds such as eclogite, pyroxenite, and peridotite have undergone different p–T conditions before they were brought up to the surface. Diamond was originally formed deep in the mantle. It was then transformed to the final stage in the crust where the metastable growth of diamond and associated minerals has taken place. During kimberlite and lamproite magmatism, xenoliths of diamondiferous rocks were engulfed by ascending magma. The inherited diamonds were transformed by processes including dissolution, replacement, and overgrowth.
