Albitization and quartz dissolution in Paleoproterozoic metagranite, central Sweden - Implications for the disposal of spent nuclear fuel in a deep geological repository

► The albitized rock in Forsmark originated close to the peak regional metamorphism. ► Basic magmatism during the regional metamorphism has triggered the albitization. ► The episyenite formation in Forsmark occurred between or after 1.8-1.7 Ga. ► Geometry and distribution of the episyenites argue against high fluid/rock ratios. ► The influence of the altered rocks is negligible for a geological repository.
