Alzheimer et estime de soi : mise en place d'un atelier « terrapeutique » au sein d'un EHPAD

This article describes an art-therapy programme involving clay modelling in a nursing home. Four women (aged 76 to 95 years) with Alzheimer's disease attended ten sessions of a therapeutic workshop with a psychologist and an occupational therapist. The main aim was an improvement is these patients' self-esteem. The programme was evaluated by qualitative assessments (analysis of verbal exchanges on the subject of the artistic productions) and quantitative assessments (the Rosenberg self-esteem scale). As a result of a wide range of factors (stimulation, caring atmosphere, friendly exchanges, shared activities, etc) the results appear to be in favour of an improvement in these elderly patients' self-esteem.
