Mectizan® procurement and delivery for onchocerciasis mass drug administration programmes

▶ Available Ivermectin tablets on the field is key to reach the ultimate goal for mass drug administration for Onchocerciasis control/elimination programmes. ▶ From 1988 to 2008 more than 1.5 billion Mectizan tablets were shipped to endemic countries to cover for a cumulative 697 million approved treatments. ▶ A comprehensive drug policy in endemic recipient countries would facilitate and sustain drug delivery to reach the ultimate yearly treatment goal yet to be achieved.
