Contamination levels and spatial distributions of heavy metals and PAHs in surface sediment of Imam Khomeini Port, Persian Gulf, Iran

► PAHs and heavy metals in sediments of the IKP have been studied as the first time. ► The PAHs origin has been determined by usage of PAHs molecular ratios. ► Petrochemical industries and maritime traffic have effected on marine environment. ► The measured values were compared with some sediment quality standards. ► We observed high levels of Hg in the study area.
