Bacteria associated with sabellids (Polychaeta: Annelida) as a novel source of surface active compounds

► We first used Polychaetes as a source of biosurfactant-producing bacteria. ► BSs were produced by bacteria affiliated also to genera never reported as producers. ► An important aspect of the study is the recovery of Joostella spp. among BS-producers.
