Creating a GIS-based model of marine debris “hot spots” to improve efficiency of a lobster trap debris removal program

► We analyzed 5 years of marine debris removal data. ► Developed and tested a spatial hot spots map to target high debris locations. ► The method of removal and contractor identity affects amount of debris removed. ► The supply of debris currently exceeds the removal effort. ► The spatial hot spot map is a new tool for limiting debris search area.
