Phenolic endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in Anzali Wetland, Iran: Elevated concentrations of 4-nonylphenol, octhylphenol and bisphenol A

► Endocrine disrupting phenolics were investigated in surface sediment from Anzali Wetland, Iran 4-NP > OP > BPA. ► We indicated TOC in the sediments appeared to play an important role in controlling the fate of 4-NP and BPA. ► APs and BPA levels examined in the present study are higher than other parts of the world. ► We suggest that this lagoon should be protected and sewage input in this area should be controlled.
