Lysosomal and lipid-associated parameters in the livers of three species of arctic seabird chicks: Species differences and relationships with contaminant levels

► For the first time lysosomal parameters are described in seabirds. ► Significant species differences in lysosomal parameters were observed. ► Early signs of impairment of the lysosomes were visible in herring gull chicks. ► Species differences in lysosomal parameters were related to Cr, Cd and Pb levels. ► Lipid peroxidation correlated with halogenated organic contaminant levels.
