► TBT and its breakdown products are measured in tissues of male turbot. ► The ripe testes of the turbot are a target tissue for TBT accumulation. ► Excretion of TBT exceeds the uptake of this toxicant at the specific whole-body level. ► The males from TBT-contaminated location reach this specific level at 23-24 cm in total length.
