Cellular energy allocation in mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis) from the stratified estuary as a physiological biomarker

► In situ use of CEA in native mussels in stratified estuary to study natural stress. ► Based on CEA values clear difference observed between coastal and estuarine mussels. ► Decrease in CEA found in the estuarine mussels compared to the coastal mussels. ► Implication of susceptibility to stress/vulnerability of the estuarine ecosystems.
