Hepatic biotransformation genes and enzymes and PAH metabolites in bile of common sole (Solea solea, Linnaeus, 1758) from an oil-contaminated site in the Mediterranean Sea: A field study

► Partial sequences for biotransformation genes were obtained in liver of sole. ► Phase I enzyme activities reflect PAH contamination of the investigated coastal area. ► Gene transcription and enzyme activities displayed a different induction profile. ► No correlation was observed between PAH metabolites in bile and enzyme.
