Rapid determination of benzoate in soft drinks by solid-state benzoate ion selective sensor based on conducting polypyrrole film

► In this work a benzoate selective solid-state sensor has been prepared (PPy-Bz). ► The active layer is film of conducting polypyrrole doped with benzoate anion. ► PPy-Bz film electropolymerized on a platinum rod instead of the conventional design. ► We described a rapid and accurate method for the determination of Bz− in soft drinks. ► PPy-Bz sensor is selective and can be used in portable equipments for BZ analysis.
