Petrology of the Mesoarchean Rio Maria suite and the discrimination of sanukitoid series

► The petrogenesis of the Rio Maria suite required melting of a metasomatized mantle. ► The mantle is metasomatized by addition of about 20-30% TTG-like melt. ► The modal and chemical data indicated two sanukitoid series of the Rio Maria suite. ► The granodiorite and monzonite series are apparently a feature of the sanukitoids. ► Our results indicate that Rio Maria magmas were originated in a two stage process.
