Paleosol occurrences along the Archean-Proterozoic contact in the Aravalli craton, NW India

► Paleosols occur in the Aravalli craton along the Archean-Proterozoic interface. ► The weathering interval is defined as between ∼2.5 Ga and ∼2.15 Ga. ► Lateritic weathering formed a lower iron-depleted and upper iron-enriched zone. ► An evolutionary model shows the structural control of paleosol sections. ► Complete sections are preserved only along the eastern flank of the synclinorium.
