Deformation bands in porous carbonate grainstones: Field and laboratory observations

► A multidisciplinary work integrating both field and experimental studies. ► High- and low-angle to σ1 deformation bands developed during the triaxial tests. ► A microstructural analysis of natural and laboratory deformation bands was performed. ► We constrained the pressure conditions at which natural structures formed. ► We gained new insights into the processes occurring in nature and laboratory.
