Suction stress and its application on unsaturated direct shear test under constant volume condition

► We carried out the unsaturated direct shear tests under a constant volume condition. ► The suction stress derived by applying the SSM was applied to the test results. ► The stress paths in unsaturated soil agreed well with the M.C.P. line. ► The unsaturated mechanical behaviors can be explained by using the suction stress.
