Seismic response of soil foundation surrounded Fe2O3 nanoparticles-reinforced concrete pipes conveying fluid

This paper reports the seismic response of the fluid-conveyed concrete pipes surrounded by soil medium. The concrete pipe is reinforced by Fe2O3 nanoparticles with magnetic properties. The surrounded soil medium is simulated by Winkler medium using spring element. The redial force induced by fluid flow is calculated by Navier-Stokes equation and the Mori-Tanaka model is used for obtaining the effective material properties of the structure. The cylindrical shell model is used for modeling of the structure. Based on the energy method and Hamilton's principal, the motion equations are derived. Using Galerkin and Newmark methods, the dynamic deflection of the structure is calculated. The effects of fluid velocity, volume percent and agglomeration of Fe2O3 nanoparticles, magnetic field, soil medium and geometrical parameters of pipe are shown on the seismic response of the structure. Results show that considering the agglomeration of Fe2O3 nanoparticles, the dynamic deflection of the concrete pipe is increased.
