Activity, thermostability and isozymes of superoxide dismutase in 17 edible mushrooms

► Edible mushrooms are rich in SOD. ► Edible mushrooms' SOD shows high thermal stability. ► Isozymes of edible mushrooms are MnSOD and FeSOD; MnSOD is the main isozymes. ► First report of using 4-35% PGGE method to identify and determine SOD isozymes. ► The trace amounts (ng) SOD can be detected using PGGE method.
