Les effets de l'approche multisensorielle en ambulatoire dans la prise en soin d'une résidente institutionnalisée en EHPAD

The multisensory approach of the Snoezelen type is constantly gaining ground in the supportive care of institutionalized older people. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of this approach implemented in ambulatory mode, directly in the resident's room. A single-case ABAB protocol design with a nursing-home resident (Mrs. G.) highlighted a positive effect of this ambulatory multisensory approach, with a decrease in depression, anxiety, and fatigue, and an increase in vigor and interpersonal relationships during intervention phases (B phases) compared to baseline phases (A phases). These results are discussed, setting out the benefits of this approach and of the establishment of appropriate multisensory environments within institutions.
