Approches comportementales en pharmacologie préclinique des médicaments antalgiques

This review focusses on tests allowing to analyze the influence of pain on animal behavior. These tests can be used in preclinical assessment of analgesic drugs. In the past decades, classical tests have revealed their limits in preclinical practice. In fact, there is a translational problem between preclinical and clinical results leading to clinical failure of potential analgesic drugs. Among explanations, a poor predictivity of classical preclinical test is claimed. Hence, measurement of a reaction time or a reaction threshold is far from clinical reality. That is why others exploration tests of pain in animal were developed. In this review, we propose to describe some of these new alternative methods that could complete classical pain test battery to increase preclinical predictivity.
