Accompagner l'enfant en fin de vie jusqu'à la mort à domicile : expériences de soignants

The aim of this article is to share the experience of a team of professionals who provide palliative care to children at their home. The practices with the child at the end of life generate difficulties, which are necessary to face in the everyday life at the child's home. The stakes for the team are to try to reach a relational and technical care of high quality, while protecting itself. These stakes are sometimes worsened by unusual technical care, changeable prescriptions, while under the glance of a worried and grieving family. The end-of-life care of the child is intrinsically connected to a relational skill and the management of feelings, which knock down the professionals. The team of Croix-Saint-Simon home care put in words the way professionals accomplish palliative care, the conditions required to remain in the work and the resources it has.
