Secret(s) en soins palliatifs

Although the existence of Palliative Care Units is fundamental, it raises many questions on an individual and societal level. Their existence reveals an ambivalent relationship towards death itself. After various patients and health professional testimonies, the psychologist may question: what secret(s) are underlying in such units? Must the psychologist be subjected to a degree of transparency, which paradoxically ensures the famous global approach? Does the psychologist choose the cult of secrecy or is it his ethical duty to be the guarant of it? Through a historical testimony taken from a piece of literature and various clinical examples, we shall try to clarify this in the light of a clinical orientation, which allows, through the patient, the unconscious to express itself.
