Croyances dans la douleur chronique

Patients suffering from chronic pain develop a system of specific beliefs about their pain. We drew up a checklist of thoughts on pain and classified them into 10 beliefs that we proposed as a questionnaire to participants with chronic-pain and without pain. The results show that the 10 beliefs present different degrees of activation and that four of them are significantly more activated in chronic pain patients. Our study shows that we can elaborate a cognitive profile constituted with specific thoughts on pain, which can help in the better understanding of the problem of chronic pain. Implications for cognitive therapy are suggested.
