A LiCoO2 film was synthesized using a template method, which provided an interconnected pore network with a high surface area. The electrochemical behavior of this new film (PF) was compared with a conventional film (CF) produced by spin coating. The PF had an initial charge/discharge capacity of 87.5/69.5 mAh gâ1 with a 79.4% coulombic charge/discharge efficiency. The CF had a low discharge capacity of 26.7 mAh gâ1 and a charge capacity of 33.9 mAh gâ1; the first charge/discharge efficiency was 78.8%. The electrochemical stability and impedance behavior of this new porous film were also better than those of conventional film.
