De la neurophysiologie à la clinique de l'hypnose dans la douleur de l'enfant

Current developments in brain imaging studies applied to hypnosis and the study of pain not only help to validate the existence of a hypnotic state but also to assess its therapeutic effects. These studies provide a better understanding about how hypnosis is effective on the cortical level, and also offer another perspective concerning the mechanisms of pain which could lead to a different definition of pain. In this article we discuss the latest knowledge in the domain of hypnosis and pain, and the approaches used in clinical practice and their applications in the management of pain in children.
