Prise en charge psychologique des enfants avec une maladie héréditaire du métabolisme

The inborn diseases of metabolism (MHM) are rare genetic diseases whose age of onset is usually early ingancy. These conditions are often associated with severe prognosis. Multiple outpatient clinics and/or hospitalisations, parental anxiety of acute decompensations, daily medications, and sometimes a restrictive diet modify quality of life and relationship from the child to his entourage and his environment. Psychological management of a child with MHM can provide a considerable help for daily care and families' feeling. We aim to highlight how psychological support can help in daily practice for therapeutic observance, improve child coping with invasive care, acceptance of the disease and better understanding of interferences and stakes between children and parents.
