Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and -optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) for determination of essential minerals in closed acid digestates of peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.)

► We validated ICP-MS/OES analyses of Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, P, and Zn in peanuts. ► A dynamic reaction cell improved accuracy and precision in Cu, Fe, and Zn analyses. ► We investigated variation in essential mineral composition of 56 peanut genotypes. ► High variation, especially in Ca and Mn, indicated good plant breeding potential.
